INTERVIEW PRODUCER

The interview producer is the first point of contact for the channel and responsible for researching, finding and delivering guest interviews. Working for both the news bulletins and ‘Inside Story,’ the role requires regular participation in editorial meetings and keeping abreast of local, national, and international current events, as well as online news sources.

Highlights:

  • Arriving as an intern and within 6 months, working my way up to become the principal interview producer for the channel’s flagship current affairs show ‘Inside Story.’

  • Sourcing new and relevant voices to ensure insightful and balanced reporting on a range of issues, including the refugee crisis, US elections, Brexit, Yemen, Syria, Israel/Palestine, economics, technology, gun violence, race relations, climate change and cyber security.

  • Forging strong and lasting relationships with high profile academics, activists, NGOs, politicians and community representatives.

  • Liaising with production teams to identify potential topics for interview segments.

  • Researching interview topics and individual guests.

  • Compiling and writing background briefs for presenters, production teams and reporters where necessary.

  • Responsible for arranging the logistics and liaising with the AJ news desk, satellite desk and master control room to book and organise studios, satellite bookings and technical logistics.
